A Dramatic Oratorio

For centuries, composers have turned to the Requiem Mass to commemorate death and offer comfort in the face of loss. Requiem asks a different question:
What happens when it is faith itself that we mourn?
This original dramatic oratorio reimagines the traditional Latin Requiem as a dialogue between ancient liturgy and contemporary voices. While the chorus preserves the timeless words of the Mass for the Dead, soloists interrupt, question and wrestle with those words, confronting doubt, inherited belief, grief and the possibility of renewal.
There is no body to mourn.
Instead, Requiem explores the death of certainty, the collapse of long-held convictions and the painful process of reconstructing meaning after faith has been shaken. The work ultimately asks whether resurrection is possible; not only as a theological idea, but as a deeply human act of choosing hope after profound loss.
The Requiem has traditionally offered prayers for the dead.
This work offers something different.
It is a funeral for certainty.
Many people today experience a kind of grief that has no cemetery, no ritual and no shared language. They mourn the collapse of inherited beliefs, institutions, identities or ways of understanding the world. There is no body to mourn, yet the loss is deeply real.
Requiem gives musical voice to that experience.
The work neither celebrates nor condemns deconstruction. Instead, it asks what comes afterward. If grief changes us, can it also become the beginning of renewal? Can faith, transformed by doubt rather than protected from it, become something deeper, more compassionate and more honest?
The Requiem has always been about hope emerging from loss.
This work simple asks whether that hope can exist even after faith itself has died.
